About
Chess Minds in Motion
Chess Minds in Motion, founded in 2011, is a company dedicated to the healthy development of children through engaging chess instruction. We are a United States Chess Federation (USCF) affiliated organization that is bonded and insured.
The company was started by Martin Nilsson, a USCF Life Master with a 2300 rating. Martin came to the game early, so he has a profound appreciation for the importance of a supportive, engaging coach when a child is first introduced to chess.
Chess Minds in Motion’s hand-picked instructors can encourage the newest students and challenge tournament-level participants. All of our instructors are personally vetted from active, tournament-playing chess enthusiasts. Instructors pass a rigorous background check and are USCF certified.
We provide fun, educational scholastic enrichment programs throughout San Diego County. Our lesson plans are easy to understand and individual attention is given so main concepts are grasped. The curriculum is a based on over 30 years of playing the Royal Game and delivering over 15,000 hours of teaching.
We also provide private and group chess lessons and host tournaments throughout San Diego County.
Students reach success both on and off the board. We have coached students who represented the U.S in both World Youth Championships and Pan American Games. With many National Championships and State Championships to our name our students thrive on the board.
